Rulings of the Peripheral Code of the Order of Hermes
- Creation of Mundane Valuables by Magic
The creation of items valuable to mundanes through magic is a possible
source of friction. While it is not simply forbidden, certain uses
are:
- Items of value created temporarily will eventually vanish in mundane
possession, and tracing it back to a member of the Order may bring ruin
upon us all.
- Items of value created permanently, using vis, can devalue
local supplies of such, and doing so qualifies as interference in the
affairs of mundanes. This includes gold, silver, and gems, as well as
rare and exotic spices and materials. Creation of such valuable items
for use only amongst magi (in decoration and enchantments) is
permissible; exercise care to avoid arousing the greed of mundane
thieves.
