ECAC Hockey Report, 1995 March 15

There were some big surprises in the ECAC quarterfinals. Giant-killer Princeton played 203 minutes of heart-stopping hockey with #2 seed Brown, winning 4-3 Friday night, losing 3-2 Saturday and going to double overtime on Sunday before finally prevailing 3-2 to take the series four points to two. #3 seed Harvard was also upset by RPI, three points to one. The Engineers tied the Crimson 2-all Friday and defeated them 3-1 on Saturday to advance.

One favorite who did not fall was Clarkson. The Golden Knights swept Cornell commandingly, 6-2 and 7-2, to take the series four points to none. Finally, Colgate took three games to knock off Vermont, losing 5-2 Friday before coming back to take the last two games 2-0 and 4-1.

So, this weekend the four survivors go to the ECAC tournament in Lake Placid, which Alfred and I invite you to join us in watching at Monty's Sports Bar in Magnolia Center. At 2pm Pacific Friday RPI takes on Colgate, and at five, it's Princeton and Clarkson. Saturday, the consolation game will be on at 2pm Pacific, followed by the championship at five o'clock. If you're interested in joining us, call the Mr. Squishy show at 893-2425. And a big thank-you to Empire Sports network of Buffalo for carrying the games live.
